Synopsis: Furniture design by external professionals is often seen as a cost by companies. In 10 slides, we will explain what it is really good for - and what is not.

Roberta Mutti is an architect, journalist and editor who has been in the furniture field since 1991 when she worked for Interni magazine. She is the first woman from Italy in the top 60 on 500 Top Influencers in Architecture, Design & Engineering, Property, Planning, Development and Construction on Twitter. Franz Rivoira is a strategic marketing and communications expert as well as a journalist – working since 1988 as a copywriter, art director, photographer and digital illustrator. He is specialised in high-end, design and luxury goods, and in furniture and furnishings. Both of them are digital marketing experts, and Google-certified professionals in Adwords and Analytics.

Synopsis: With the growth of online sales and access to information, the furniture industry is becoming global. Designers are able to specify products manufactured everywhere. In the commercial, retail and hospitality sectors. Brand Identity is strategic for the success of an interior project, the space has, in fact, to reflect exactly the Brand. The seminar investigates first, how furniture and interiors are related to the client’s brand and second, how designers have now access to a global market to refine those relationships.

Enrico G. Cleva is an architect, interior designer and international consultant. He is a strategic consultant for two major industry associations – American Society of Interior Designers and Interior Designers of Canada – and a regular speaker on interior design trends and markets in Italy, Canada and Asia. A graduate of Politecnico di Milano, Enrico founded his practice ec&co. in 2005 and designed high end residential and corporate office projects. He writes for international magazines and is Strategic Advisor for Fiera Milano.

Dr Eric Leong is a design celebrity with 27 years of experience. He is popular for a series of home makeover ideas, interior decoration and lifestyle shows aired on Malaysian television and known as the “King of Decoration”. He is the Head of Interior Design at The One Academy, a leading art and design college, and Principal of its Penang campus. He is also one of the judges of the MIFF Furniture Design Competition.


Air-quality Imperatives of Furniture and What Manufacturers Should do to Reduce Emissions

Synopsis: This presentation will cover the essence of dust emission and volatile organic content (VOC) emission experienced in the furniture manufacturing industry. It will present some latest research findings applicable to the regional furniture sector and also the necessary remedial measures that could be taken to reduce emissions.

Professor Dr Jegatheswaran Ratnasingam is Professor of Furniture Technology at the Faculty of Forestry, University Putra Malaysia. With 15 years of industrial experience in the furniture sector in the Asian region, he is able to identify value-addition trends within the regional furniture industry. He is a strong advocate of efficient use of raw materials and pays strong attention to “furniture as fashion”.

Synopsis: Controlling the presence of water/moisture to reduce the risk of mould from products, packaging and transported cargo.

Helen Chen joined Super Dry in 2012 and leads a team of key account specialists to manage the vendor business of Super Dry’s global accounts, which are all famous brands and high profile companies. The team is responsible for conducting moisture risk assessments and providing education and solutions on how to prevent moisture in the chain supply. Helen has conducted over 100 moisture prevention training seminars and participated in moisture control factory audits of over 300 companies throughout Southeast Asia.

Philip Yap is an award-wining designer with more than 30 years of experience with deep insights of the China market. He is the founder of PYD Associates and divides his time between his offices in Malaysia and China. In 2015, he launched the exclusive Chinese fusion brand Tang Tang. He is Chief Judge of the MIFF FDC Competition from 2014 to 2018.
